Sunny Isles Beach, FL

Covering a small area of around 1.80 square miles, the city of Sunny Isles Beach is sandwiched between the Atlantic Ocean and the Intracoastal Waterway. With water on both sides and a 2.5-mile stretch of beautiful white sand beaches, Sunny Isles Beach is one of the best beach communities in Florida and a major destination for sun and water lovers.

Sunny Isles wasn’t always the prestigious destination it is today. From the 1950s to the 1970s, it was considered a “funky” part of the town, thanks to its collection of quaint, family-owned motels and small beachfront hotels. The restoration and revitalization of the historic Newport Fishing Pier (formerly called Sunny Isles Pier) in the 1980s led to the widespread construction of luxury hotels and condominiums in the area, along with golf courses, upscale restaurants, marinas, and other facilities sought by discriminating holiday-seekers.

More than just a vacation destination, however, Sunny Isles Beach is also a community of about 20,800 residents who are lucky enough to call this piece of paradise home. With a “Mayor-Commission-Manager” form of government, Sunny Isles provides locals not only year-round access to the topnotch resort facilities in the area, but quality schools, parks, community events, and excellent services, as well.
