The county seat of Broward County, Fort Lauderdale is a cosmopolitan coastal city with a total area that covers roughly 36.3 square miles. Officially established in 1911, the origins of Fort Lauderdale dates as far back as two millennia. Its extensive history includes the settlement of Tequesta Indians to the construction of the so-called New River Settlement.

Today, Fort Lauderdale’s extensive network of canals has earned it its nickname: Venice of America. In addition to over 160 miles of these waterways, Fort Lauderdale is also a thriving city with a diverse economy.
